NEIGHBORHOOD CHOIRS COMBINED
Tristeza
Haroldo Lobo & Niltinho de Souza; arr. Lisa Arnold
Translation:
Sorrow
Please, go away
My soul that cries
Is foreseeing my end
You made my heart into your home
My suffering has already gone too far
I want to go back to that life of joy
I want to sing again
Som Dtam Saap Eelee
Trad. Thai song; Isaan by Ja Ting Ja; arr. Hope Arthur
Translation:
Som dtam papaya, squeeze a little lemon add a little fish sauce, a little pickled fish to put on it. Yum, yum, both spicy and stinging. Delicious to the heart. Thai salad, Lao salad, No worries! Mixed salad, noodle salad, crab salad, bean salad, Hoooyyy, certainly delicious!
PILSEN/LITTLE VILLAGE ALLEGRO
Better When I’m Dancin’
Meghan Trainor & Thaddeus Dixon; arr. Andy Beck; choreography by Meaghan Carroll
Ay Jalisco no te rajes
Jorge Negrete; arr. Danny Wallenberg
Translation:
Oh Jalisco, Jalisco, Jalisco
You have your girlfriend who is Guadalajara
Pretty girl, the rarest pearl
Of all Jalisco is my Guadalajara
And I like to listen to the mariachis
Sing your beautiful songs with soul
Hear how those guitarrones sound
And have a tequila with the bravest men
Oh, Jalisco, don't back down!
It comes out of my soul to scream with heat
Open the whole chest to make this cry
How beautiful Jalisco is, word of honor!
Cielito Lindo
Quirino Mendoza; arr. Danny Wallenberg
Translation:
From the Sierra Morena,
pretty sky*, there come
a pair of black eyes,
pretty sky, sneaking by.
Ay, ay, ay, ay,
Sing and don’t cry,
Because when singing our hearts are happy,
pretty sky.
*Cielito Lindo: term of endearment, like dear one
