The Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir Program has partnered with the Community Music Division of DePaul University since 1989. DePaul's Community Music Division offers outstanding music instruction to students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Our Neighborhood Choir Program is a window onto the world and an incubator for global leadership. With our world-class instruction and socially conscious approach to music education, these community-based programs nurture emotional, intellectual, and social development anchored in musical excellence and creative expression.
In the Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir Program, music education means more than theory, notation, and sight-singing. Our encouraging approach to musicianship authentically incorporates diverse languages and styles, engaging singers in a meaningful dialogue about the historical and social context of an array of cultures. The impact of this exposure is compounded through the bonds students form with young people across the city—and globe—breaking down barriers of race, religion, and socioeconomics and forging life-long friendships along the way.
The Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir Program performs regularly in Lincoln Park and beyond. Singers have been featured at the Keshet Rainbow Banquet, the Marfan Foundation Annual Gala, in Hansel & Gretel, Carmen, Turandot and La bohème at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Bernstein’s MASS at Ravinia Festival. Select members of the Lincoln Park/DePaul Neighborhood Choir Program have toured throughout the United States, most recently to Kentucky, Toronto, New York & New Jersey, Arizona, and Oregon.
